7 Spring Break Staycation Ideas

Even if the weather outside says otherwise, Spring Break has officially started. While a lot of people are sure to escape to a tropical beach somewhere (we’re not jealous…) there are still many of us that are keeping it low key this year and staying at home. But sticking it around town doesn’t have to be uneventful. In fact, it can be far from it. Read on to see what 7 fun things we’ll be doing this Spring Break! (P.S. All of our ideas are kid-friendly!)

1. Cherry Blossom Festival

Starting March 24 and going all the way to April 17, this is something not to be missed by photo-loving, Instagram-obsessed Hunnis! The festival is sure to offer lots of photo ops along with plenty of other entertainment. Visit their website for more details

2. Netflix Marathon

Grab your favourite snacks and binge watch that show you’ve been holding off on. Or just watch a favorite movie of yours over and over again. We won’t judge. Hunni tip: make it more of an event and invite your best girlfriends over to join.

3. Roadtrip

Do you know how big BC is?! Get in your car (or grab that good friend of yours that has a vehicle) and just GO! Could be a day-trip to Whistler or could be a few nights on Vancouver Island, road trips are easily one of our favourite things to do – no matter what the weather or time of year.

4. Visit a local hotspot

Us ladies at Hunni’s absolutely love to check out the latest coffee shops, breweries, restaurants in our area. Spring Break is the perfect time to do this as you can hit up such places like Cloverdale Coffee Co (pictured above) during less busy hours – depending on your schedule of course.

5. Unplug

If there is one thing you should do this Spring Break, it’s this. Even if it’s just for an hour, it’s a break that more of us should invest in. Put the phone away. Log off Facebook. It’s almost a guarantee you’ll feel liberated the longer you go without all the gadgets.

6. Go to the Drive-In

Better than the movie theatre. We promise. Pack as many comfy blankets as possible, some of your favourite movie snacks and your best friends in a car and you’re set. It’s even more fun if you can transform your truck/suv/hatchback into one big bed. To see what movies are playing this weekend, click here

7. Take on a DIY Project

Fit for those rainy, less outdoorsy days, take the time to tackle that DIY project you’ve had your eye on. If you need a little inspiration, visit ur Pinterest board!
