With the end of June nearing and July right around the corner, it’s time to start preparing for Canada Day. For many Canada Day can be an event that marks the beginning of summer, making it all the more fun and exciting. Whether you’re going to be staying home and celebrating with a backyard barbecue or rather have bigger plans like venturing out to a community celebration or fireworks, you’re going to need a cute and festive outfit. One of the most popular Canada day activities across the country is attending a local Canada day celebration. These festivals typically occur in every town and city across the country and have everything from carnival rides and food trucks to live music and firework, making them the most family friendly and ideal place to spend the day celebrating with your family and friends. For those of you in Metro Vancouver, the Surrey Canada day celebration never fails to provide a good time for people of all ages and for those of you who find yourselves closer to the downtown area of Vancouver, Canada Place is sure to amaze with their activities and fireworks show. When you’re going to spending all day outside engaging in many different activities, it’s always a good idea to be comfortable and incorporate different layers into your outfits. Here’s one of our favourites for attending a local Canada day celebration:

This dress is the perfect outfit for attending one of these festivals as it’s comfortable and easy to accessorize. If it’s a hot and sunny day, this dress is breathable and easy to pair some festive sunglasses or jewellery with. If the weather happens to be cloudy or a bit chilly, you can easily throw a white cardigan or black leather jacket over top of this dress to make it more weather appropriate while still remaining festive and cute! Not only is this dress cute, casual and comfortable but it is also the perfect length for any activities you may find yourself taking part in at the celebration this weekend.

For those of you who aren’t a fan of wearing dresses, here’s another outfit option that would be great if you’re planning to take on the crowds and spend your Canada day at one of these exciting festivals. This outfit can be worn with red and white striped top tied around your waist if it’s hot, or if the weather starts to become chilly you can easily throw this on overtop of your white tank top to keep yourself a little warmer!

If you’re looking to have a more relaxed and intimate celebration for Canada day with your family and friends this year, then a backyard barbecue is the perfect activity for you! By staying home you’ll be able to avoid the crowds and chaos that comes along with going out to celebrate this national holiday and simply enjoy the day and the people that are celebrating with you. Besides, what better way to celebrate the first long weekend of the summer than by playing some backyard games, firing up the grill and enjoying the sunshine with some of your favourite people?

Nothing says casual like a white t-shirt and some overalls, but by tying this red, white and black scarf around your neck or in your hair you’ll still look festive and be showing your love and support for our beautiful country on Canada day!
