“There is nothing that is not beautiful about bread. The way it grows, from tiny grains, from bowls on the counter, from yeast blooming in a measuring cup like swampy islands. The way it fills a room, a house, a building, with its inimitable smells, submits to a firmly applied fist and contracts, swells again; the way it stretches and expands upon kneading, the warm, supple feel of it against skin. The sight of a warm roll on a table, the taste-sweet, sour, yeasty on the tongue.” ― Eleanor Brown
‘Necessity is the mother of invention.’
Someone really eloquent said that wayyyy before we were around.
This thought proves itself over and over again when it comes to living with limits.
Let me elaborate…
People say that Fall is cheesecake season. Who comes up with these rules? Repeat after me: today is a GREAT day for cheesecake. Besides, is there anything better than a big ol’ slice of cold creamy cheesecake on a warm day?
I don’t know about you but when I’m having a craving – I have zero motivation to put on pants and run to the store. I just need to make it work with things that are already in my pantry + fridge. This ludicrous behaviour makes me all sorts of creative and artistic. Most times it works out for the best. I can’t say that’s always the case though.
After thoroughly rummaging through my kitchen, I had it – honey pecan cheesecake.
Even if the weather outside says otherwise, Spring Break has officially started. While a lot of people are sure to escape to a tropical beach somewhere (we’re not jealous…) there are still many of us that are keeping it low key this year and staying at home. But sticking it around town doesn’t have to be uneventful. In fact, it can be far from it. Read on to see what 7 fun things we’ll be doing this Spring Break! (P.S. All of our ideas are kid-friendly!)
Happy Wednesday, Hunnis!
It wasn’t too long ago that we did our reno’s. In fact, it was only this past January and February when we freshened up the shop. Over the months, we’ve received many compliments on our new layout and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
One of the features of our reno’s is our light fixture that hangs above our main counter. Countless people have snapped pictures of this DIY project and asked us time and time again where did we get it and they are always so surprised and in awe when we tell them that the owners made it themselves! So, we thought we’d share with our Hunni’s just how we managed to make this great feature out of nearly nothing! Read on to see how you can replicate this great Mason Jar Light Fixture DIY!
